The Department of Wildlife Conservation is an internal
institution of the State Forestry Administration,
and at the same time, the Department also functions
as the SFA Wildlife Conservation and Nature Reserves
Construction Program Office and SFA Wetland Convention
Implementation Office. It is responsible for guiding
the management of the nationwide management of wildlife
and nature reserves, and for coordinating the programs
in the nationwide wetland conservation. |

To fit in with the needs of wildlife
protection at home and abroad, with the approval
of State Forestry Administration (SFA), National
Wildlife Research and Development Center (NWRDC)
of SFA has been formally established in 2000.
Main function of NWRDC:

- to conduct basic and applied researches on
national wildlife resource protection and nature
reserve;
- to organize and coordinate national wildlife
protection and research task of nature reserve,
and implement international cooperation and
communication;
- to provide scientific and technological support
and decision consultation for the protection
and management of wild fauna and flora.
