WILDLIFE RESOURCES IN CHINA --- 50-YEAR'S RETROSPECT
 
Wildlife, as an important and integrated part of the natural eco-systems, play a key role in maintaining natural ecological balance. It is also a strategic fundamental to the sustainable development of economy and society.

For a country with such a vast territory, China possesses of many types of landscapes, various long rivers, huge lakes and different climate, which provide favorable natural conditions for the survival and development of wildlife. Especially, among them there are many precious rare domestic species such as Giant Panda, Crested Ibis, Golden-haired Monkey, China Tiger, Chinese Alligator, Yellow-bellied Tragopan, and Chinese Dove Tree, Ginkgo, and Golden Camellia. To achieve coordinated development for human-being and nature, the Chinese people has been entrusted to the mission of conservation the above precious resources.

During the past 50 years, under attention and correct leadership of the Central Committee of the Party and the State Council, and with the support from governments of all levels, all agencies and the whole society, all staff working on the conservation have been working hard and overcoming lots of difficulties and given impetus to the rapid development of the conservation in China while the great achievements have caught the world's attention.
