The Chinese Government has been paying
significant attention to the work of wild aninal
and plant conservation. In the National 10th Five-year
Social and Economic Development Plan the conservation
of wildlife, nature reserves and wetlands is proposed
to be strengthened. Thanks to the administrative
innovation within the State Forestry Administration,
the construction of wildlife conservation and nature
reserves is listed, for the first time, as a priority
project of national ecological construction program,
which brings precious opportunities to wildlife
protection.
Wildlife conservation and the construction of nature
reserves are the promising but long-term programs
with various ecological strategies. Specifically,
it is also a so-called diplomatic program to build
a good image of China in the world. The program
is comprised of wildlife conservation, construction
of nature reserves, wetland conservation and reservation
of the biological gene pools. The priorities will
lie in the rescuing project of endangered species,
the project of ecosystem construction and wetland
conservation, the demonstration of wise use projects,
as well as the project of gene reserving.
